How Coaching Works Coaching is a confidential conversation between coach and client with the aim of the client achieving their goals and living a more fulfilled life. Your coach will use all their training, skills and experience to support you in achieving your goals and objectives. Coaching often assists clients to become more self-aware which can powerfully help you to move forward in any area of your life.
This 'conversation' can be anything from a single focused 'power' session to support you in a specific area or can continue for several months for more challenging goals and circumstances. Together coach and client design and agree the 'agenda' based solely on the what the client wants to achieve and how they want to work with the coach. As the client, you are always in control and your coach will fully respect your boundaries.
How is the Coaching Delivered?Coaches and clients arrange the schedule and means of contact (e.g., in person, by phone, or via e-mail) that serve them both. They are not constrained to follow a standardized schedule or means of contact. Coaching Sessions
Generally, individual coaching sessions will be 45 minutes in duration however the first session is 75 minutes. This additional time enables the coach and client to establish and agree the client's agenda. Coaching sessions will be weekly (by telephone or face to face) in a cycle of 3 weeks on and one week off to allow the client time to assimilate and integrate changes and new learnings. Additional Support
At Secerts for Singles individual coaching clients have telephone access to their coach in between sessions (depending on the caoching package selected) if required and unlimited email support. Coaching AgreementSecrets for Singles has a Coaching Agreement that specifies the terms and conditions of our coaching relationship and identifies the service level agreed with the client. All new clients are required to sign and return the Agreement at the beginning of coaching. If you are unclear about any of the terms, please feel free to discuss them with your coach.Coaching Input
Your coach may provide many things during the coaching process: Access to ideas you may already have but not fully aware of Clarity around what you really want A sounding board for new ideas Support for making bog decisions Challenge to expand your thinking and make new, bold decisions Direction in times of confusion Acknowedgement and Validation
EmotionsDuring coaching there may be emotional reactions to life events and it is assumed that clients are capable of expressing and handling their emotions. Your coach will support you in dealing with these feelings so that you can move forward in life, however coaching is not psychotherapy and emotional healing is not the focus of coaching. Where emotional issues are significant and preventing the client from moving on, the coach will discuss this with the client and suggest referral to a counsellor to assist with the emotional healing. Coaching can also work effectively when in tandem with counselling and therapy.
RequestingYour coach may make requests of you to promote action toward your desired outcome. Your coach offers these requests to support you in your goasl only, and as the client you are free to agree to complete the request, say No to the request, or even to say "No' but suggest another action you are willing to take. Requsting is a tool your coach uses to support you and offer you opportunities for growth however you always have the choce to accept or reject these opportunities.
